Expert Profile


Noorihsan Mohamad is an Associate Professor at the Department of Economics, Kulliyyah of Economics & Management Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia. He studied economics at the University of Malaya and received his PhD in Economics from the University of Melbourne, Australia. Noorihsan has taught a variety of courses, including the graduate level Industrial Organisation and Business Economics for MBA programme at IIUM. He has been a regular guest instructor for the Asia Business Leader (ABL) project at the Graduate School of Management, Kyoto University since 2014.



Noorihsan specialises in industrial economics and his research interest covers a wide range of applied areas and sectoral studies, including productivity & efficiency, tourism industry and the telecommunications sector. His consultancy projects have focussed on impact study for urban planning, frontier firms analysis and public policy initiatives. Noorihsan has consulted for companies and public sector institutions including the Ministry of Health (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), Malaysia Productivity Corporation, PLANMalaysia and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs on issues related to planning and strategic masterplan.



At the university level, he served as the Deputy Director of the Graduate School of Management (2017-2018), Deputy Director Office of Corporate Strategy (2015) and as the Head of MBA Programme at the Graduate School of Management from 2013 to 2015. In 2006, he was awarded the prestigious Endeavour Award by the Australian Government.
