Expert Profile


Liza binti Abdullah obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics from the University of Texas at El Paso, USA, Diploma in Translation from Institut Terjemahan Negara and Dewan Bahasa & Pustaka and Masters in Education, TESL from University of Malaya and PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from Kulliyyah of Education, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). Upon completion of her first degree, she returned to Malaysia in May 1991 and was offered a job as an English lecturer at Mara Language Academy under MARA Education Foundation where she spent 10 years there. Apart from teaching various international programmes such as American Associate Degree and A-Level, she also did a lot of coordinating tasks including coordinating an intensive programme which involved 17 trainee teachers from New Zealand who opted for practical teaching programme in Malaysia.
In 2001, Liza joined Centre for Languages and Pre-University Academic Development (CELPAD), IIUM as an English lecturer teaching English to Pre-Sessional students, English for Academic Writing and English for Occupational Purposes . She has also been given the responsibilities to hold various portfolios ranging from the posts of Assistant Course Coordinator, Course Coordinator, Coordinator of Teacher Development Unit, and Curriculum Development and Material Management Production Unit, to Deputy Head of Department. Currently, she is holding a post of Head of English Language Division at the Centre.  In addition, she is also one of the external assessors of Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) for English Language Courses.
