Course Synopsis
The programme was introduced by the Department of Accounting, Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences (KENMS) in 2000. This 1 1/2 years (full-time) or 3 years (part-time) programme is to provide the master students with academic training and research skills related to the entire broad areas of accounting.

The program combines both conventional and Islamic aspects; to produce experts who are competent in both conventional and Islamic accounting; to encourage further research in Accounting which incorporates the Islamic perspective and to generate experts who are able to formulate Islamically desirable policies in line with the rapidly changing Accounting environment. The department’s greatest strength is in the areas of Islamic Accounting, Accounting Ethics, Social and Environmental Accounting, Zakat Accounting, Taxation, Financial Reporting, Management Accounting and Public Sector Accounting.

Sejahtera Academic Framework Elements
The Sejahtera Academic Framework (SAF) puts together the various elements that are major parts of a higher education institution to create a coherent “jami’ah insaniah” system. Cognizant that although students flock to campus initially to go through an academic programme, the SAF views the entire student experience in addition to the formal curriculum as core towards the students becoming and embodying Insan Sejahtera. Therefore, the SAF highlights the roles that each element plays in nurturing holistic human beings (KhAIR) - the University refuses to be a degree mill intent only on simply producing employable graduates.

At the end of the programme, students of the Master of Science in Accounting are able to achieve the following elements of SAF as follows:
