KULLIYYAH OF DENTISTRY

I DO CARE is a community based approach for people with special care. Worldwide, the percentage of people with disability is 15%. In Pahang alone, there is about 22,000 people with disability registered under Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development. This group of people requires special care from both medical and dental team. However, oral health is often neglected among them.

Therefore, our aim is to help the underprivileged people living in residential care home. The objectives are to improve the dental health as well as awareness on performing prayers among Muslim residents in the care home and to the increase oral health knowledge, attitude and practice among the caretakers.

This project is a collaboration between Social Welfare Department or Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM), Kulliyyah of Dentistry (KOD), Kulliyyah of Medicine (KOM) and Kulliyyah of Islamic Reveal Knowledge and Human Sciences (KIRKHS) from IIUM. Twenty five(25) participants from academic staff and supporting staff joined this project at the initial phase.
