Dear Respected IIUM Researchers.,

 

We are pleased to announce the opening of IIUM Research Initiative Grant Scheme (IIUM Flagship) 2019 which is fully funded by Research Management Centre (RMC) of IIUM from 15th July 2019 – 15th August 2019.

 

PHILOSOPHY

The rationale of this funding is to encourage and support research activities that are in line with IIUM Roadmap 2019-2020’s strategic direction of Humanising Education through Maqasid Shariah and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In the spirit of achieving comprehensive excellence, the Research Management Center wishes to fund research activities that are in line with the IIUM Flagship programmes. It is hoped that this effort will align the IIUM community towards responsible research engagement and sustainable development.

 

OBJECTIVES

This fund intends to support research activities that are based on the IIUM Flagship programmmes.

 

1. SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOAL (SDG)

(Each of the application should fit into one of the SDGs as follows)

3. DURATION OF PROJECT

 

Research projects should be completed within a period of 18 months from the approval date with up to 12 months extension (subject to good progress).

 

4. ELIGIBILITY


4.1. Only ONE application per staff.  Minimum of one (1) co-researcher is required;

4.2. Open to ALL academic staff;

4.3.The applicant is not on study leave;

4.4.The budget is appropriate and meets the objectives of the grant;

4.5.The research meets the objectives of the grant and is related to the Sustainable Development Goals and IIUM Flagship(s);

4.6.Proposals for Non – research project will not be entertained


5. BUDGET

 

5.1. The budget is RM20,000.00 for both Non-Science and Technology, and Science and Technology;

 

5.2.All publication and related costs are to be borne by this grant;

 

5.3.Attending overseas and national conferences are not supported by this grant unless the required outputs have been achieved; evidence provided for those outputs and if there is surplus money to support such activity. It is also subject to the approval of the University.


6. REQUIRED OUTPUT OF RESEARCH

 

6.1.Researchers are required to publish at least TWO (2) indexed journal articles (complete with evidence) within the 18-month research duration.

 

6.2.Researchers shall acknowledge all fellow research collaborators (minimum 1 active academic) and all sources of funding openly in any publication or publicity.
