Expert Profile


Dr. Hj. Mohamad Ismail Bin Hj Mohamad Yunus, is a non-practicing Advocate & Solicitor, High Court of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. He holds a Diploma in Public Administration (UiTM), LL.B (Hons) and Masters in Comparative Laws from International Islamic University Malaysia and obtained a Ph.D in (Criminal Law & Evidence) from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. He is a Senior Assistant Professor at the Department of Legal Practice, Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL), IIUM. He has been lecturing since 1992, for various subjects such as Criminal Law, Law of Evidence, Islamic Criminal Law and Islamic Law of Evidence. He is also a guest lecturer at the Royal Malaysia Police College. Currently, he is the Deputy Dean (Student Affairs), AIKOL. The author is a member of the Investigating Tribunal, Advocate and Solicitors Disciplinary Board, BAR Council, Malaysia. He has written a book entitled ‘The Reception of Res Gestae in Malaysia’ (2006) published by the Research Management Center,‘ A Commentary on Criminal Law and Evidence’ (2014) published by Marsden Law Book and ‘A Central Issue in the Rape Trial (2015) published by IIUM Press. He has also written a plethora of articles on the area of Criminal Justice System in the Malayan Law Journal, Current Law Journal, IKIM, INSAF (Bar Council Law Journal), PENGAMAN (Official Magazine of Royal Malaysian Police), Malayan Law Review (MLR) and Journal of IPSOM (Institute of Public Security of Malaysia).
